Moving into a new home is as exciting as it is stressful. We are here to help ease your mind and help make the move stress-free. It is our top-priority to make sure that you and your belongings get settled into your new home. In order for us to do our job seamlessly, we ask that you have your items packed and ready-to-go for our movers. However, if you need packing assistance, give us a call and we will be happy to help.

We all know that packing up your belongings can be difficult, but here are some helpful tips to make the job easier.
  • Start with the things you don’t use often and won’t miss once they are packed. Those old photo-albums on the shelf, pack them up. Stacks of books you aren’t reading, pack those up too. Closet filled with linens—put those in a plastic tub with a dryer sheet to keep them smelling fresh until you’re ready to use them in your new home. Just make sure you leave your toothbrush out.
  • Label boxes with what room they will be going in at your new place. That box filled with movies can be put in the living room. All your hair-care and beauty products will go into the bathroom. A box of your children’s favorite toys will go in their bedroom.
  • Use colors or numbers to organize your boxes and what room they will be going into your new home. The kitchen could be red or the number 1, each box that goes into the kitchen will be marked red or with the number 1 to help our movers know where each box will be going in your new home.
  • Avoid mixing items that go into different rooms in the same box. It doesn’t make much sense to put kitchen utensils with bathroom supplies, keep these things in separate boxes and it will help when you’re ready to unpack.
  • Put the heaviest items at the bottom of the box to prevent damage. You wouldn’t put a case of eggs on top of a loaf of bread, don’t pack your old college textbooks on top of your daughter’s stuffed animals.
  • If all your boxes are the same size/shape, label them with what you’re putting inside. Sometimes it’s as easy as labeling the side of a box “dishes” but when you’re settling into your new home and need to find the box with your blow dryer, you will be glad it’s written on the outside of a box.
  • Use the proper size box. Be mindful that the boxes need to be carried by our movers and try not to make them too heavy. Use smaller boxes to put heavy books in and larger ones to hold many lighter items.
  • Keep your breakable items together. We don’t want your items to be damaged, it is safer to keep breakable items together in a box labeled “FRAGILE” so our movers know to be extra careful with those boxes.
  • Fill in extra spaces with small items. Don’t leave a box half-empty, fill it with pairs of socks or t-shirts to keep the box light and to efficiently pack your items. Use your dish towels to separate your fine china; it will keep them safe and you won’t need to pack a second box for your towels.
  • Make sure all your boxes are properly taped and secured. We don’t want to pick up a box and have everything fall out the bottom, make sure the box is taped shut and won’t open accidentally.
  • As you are packing, don’t be afraid to get rid of the things you no longer need/use. If you have a pile of magazines that are old, remove your name and address and donate them to your local library. If you are packing your child’s clothes and realize they’ve outgrown some of them, set them aside and bring them to a donation center. Don’t pack the things you don’t need, that’s just extra work!
  • Remember our staff is always available to help you with your move. Give us a call and let us know how we can assist you.

Do you have fragile items that could easily be broken? Of course, you do! We don’t want your items to get broken in the middle of your move, so help us out by writing on the outside of the box “FRAGILE” and our movers will do their best to keep your breakables safe. To keep your belongings safe inside the box, here’s a list of things you can use to cushion your breakables.
  • Newspaper
  • Bubble wrap
  • Plastic bags
  • Packaging peanuts
  • Clothing/fabric
  • Stuffed animals
